To answer the above questions – the TA Insights are part of the final paper – not two separate papers. Nicky, I will send you the Aeolian support papers. Janet, I have a harp there for you. Cheers, Christina

    Hello Carol,
It is just one paper – incorporating the Insights from TA into the Final one paper containing other topics. Cheers, Christina

    To Olivia,
The study on TA is to give you an overview of the system, you do not have to go in depth on the exercises in order to fulfill all the questions. As long as you get the general overview of the system. Christina

One helpful tip is this: Play the DVD improvisation with headphones on while setting your recording device to record. You will then have your own improvisation when you hear back the recording without the lesson instruction. This will help you keep on track and develop your phrasing. Always best to start with the song first and go into the improvisation after. Cheers, Christina

As for TA, it is an older system of which there are many systems but it is pretty straight forward as far as getting to the root of how a person learns to operate in the world. Much of this is environmental as well as hereditary. It can be stark but when a person sees what they are doing and where it comes from, it is a way to become very aware to make necessary changes if need be. I like Family Systems too but TA is really putting it out there without sugar coating it. That does not mean the counsellor should be abrupt but the signs are very easy to identify and then can be worked with in a method with which the recipient can identify.

Hi Janet and Pamela, The improvisation is basically the two chords (in this case with the Dorian, it would be with either the Chanter or Scarborough Faire) and you would follow it with the improv focusing on the Dm and C chords utilizing at least 2 of the patterns in the lesson. For advanced players if they feel very comfortable with improvisation, then you can add more chords of the song but I would keep it simple at the beginning. The purpose of starting with the Dorian, then Aeolian and then Mixolydian is to effectively learn as many left hand patterns on 1 chord and 2 chords. When we get to the Ionian, you will be switching to 3 chords. Therefore, I would not try to improvize more than necessary at this point. Christina

For the book report on the Manual – just a line or two about the readings that stood out – yes, it will be about a page or 2 in the end for your total report.

    Hi Tanya,
Your 1b section is in your Studio Helper file – where you can access it by clicking on files. There is a check list in 1c that will be going up very shortly, hopefully with a day or 2. You do not submit materials until the end of each Unit which will be 1c. As a finishing student, you have done most of the work so at this point, this is all review. When 1c comes up with the checklist, you will either submit your evaluation from before. We are working to get all the old monthly lessons over to the new format. So far, so good except it is taking a little bit of time but again the review is good. Cheers, Christina

Beth brought up an interesting suggestion that we do a transcript of the Amy Kanner Video. I put out the suggestion to my European Students on their Conference Call today and offered 15 hours of internship for transcribing the video and we have a person who will do this so it is clearer for the future. Thank you for the suggestion Beth! As for the interval – we call the 6th interval (which also translates into an inversion) as the Interval of HOPE. Christina

Hi Nicky, The Resonant Tone is usually presented on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, but that is because we start on a Sunday. Given that we are starting the Melbourne course on a Saturday with the Music development, then that means we can offer the Resonant Tone on Sunday Monday Tuesday. Then of course, we work with the resonance and interactive work during the rest of the week. We can talk about your situation and make it work in a number of ways. Cheers, Christina

    Hello Maginel,
Unit 1 is due anytime in the next 6 months. You have 6 months to complete each Unit. Unit 1 consists of 3 parts, 1a,1b,1c. You will want to likely submit your work safely before the 6 months is up in case your mentor deems it beneficial for you to redo any of your recordings. For the first 2 Units, you may submit your musical recording at any time before you finish your Unit academics. After Unit 2, you will submit your recordings at the end of the Unit when everything goes to your mentor.
You should be communicating with your mentor by email to get to know each other. Your mentor is Sable Shaw and her email address is: nvshaw@sbcglobal.net.
Great to have you on the FORUM. Any other questions from people? Your question automatically comes into me because we check the little box below that says Notify me of Follow-up replies via email. Cheers, Christina
